Bali belly treatment, without leaving your bed.
Bali belly is travellers’ diarrhoea, usually from contaminated food or water, and most cases clear within a few days to a week. An IV drip shortens the worst of it by replacing fluid and electrolytes directly rather than through a stomach that is rejecting them, and lets anti-nausea, anti-cramp and stomach medication be given when tablets will not stay down.
What it helps with.
- Diarrhoea and cramping
- Nausea and vomiting
- Weakness or dizziness when you stand
- Low-grade fever

Go to hospital now if you have:
- Fainting, confusion, or you cannot stand
A drip at your villa cannot treat these. Call 118 or 119 for an ambulance, or 112.
Message us first if you have:
- Blood in your stool or vomit
- You cannot keep any fluid down at all
- Fever for more than three days, or above 39°C
- Severe pain in one spot rather than general cramping
Our doctor assesses your case before anyone is sent, then tells you whether a drip at your villa is right or where to go instead. That advice is free. In an emergency, call 112.
Belly Reset questions.
How long does Bali belly last?
Most bacterial cases last three to seven days and viral ones two to three. If it is getting worse after 72 hours, or you cannot keep fluids down, message us so our doctor can assess you.
Is a drip better than oral rehydration salts?
Not always. If you can drink and keep it down, oral rehydration works. A drip is worth it when vomiting means nothing stays in, or when you are already too weak to drink enough.
When do I need a hospital instead?
Go straight to hospital if you faint, feel confused or cannot stand. Blood in your stool or vomit, nothing staying down, or a fever past three days need our doctor to assess you first. Depending on what they find, that can mean a drip at your villa with a closer follow-up, a stool test, or a hospital visit.
